President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the newly reconstituted 11-member board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), ushering in a fresh era of leadership at the nation’s foremost oil corporation.
Leading the new board is Bashir Bayo Ojulari, appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO). Ojulari, a seasoned petroleum engineer from Kwara State, previously held key roles at Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) and Renaissance Africa Energy.
Also sworn in is Ahmadu Musa Kida as the Non-Executive Chairman of the NNPCL. Kida, from Borno State, boasts a background in civil and petroleum engineering with decades of experience from Elf Petroleum and Total E&P.
The board features representation from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and relevant ministries:
- Bashir Bayo Ojulari – GCEO
- Ahmadu Musa Kida – Chairman
- Bello Rabiu – North West
- Yusuf Usman – North East
- Babs Omotowa – North Central
- Austin Avuru – South South
- Henry Obih – South East
- David Ige – South West
- Adedapo Segun – Chief Financial Officer
- Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya – Rep, Federal Ministry of Finance
- Aminu Said Ahmed – Rep, Ministry of Petroleum Resources
At the inauguration ceremony held at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu tasked the new board with the responsibility of revamping the oil and gas sector to drive national growth.
“We expect professionalism, transparency, and performance that will restore investor confidence and boost the economy,” Tinubu stated.
The president’s decision comes amid ongoing reforms in the energy sector aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency, and revenue generation through the restructured NNPCL.
