The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has officially announced the opening of applications for the 2024/2025 Nigerian Scholarship Awards (NSA) and Education Bursary Awards (EBA). This initiative, managed by the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB), is aimed at promoting academic excellence and easing financial burdens for students in tertiary institutions across the country.
Online applications are open from May 20, 2024, to June 20, 2024, and eligible students are encouraged to apply through the Federal Scholarship Board portal at https://fsbn.com.ng/scholarships.
The scholarship is in two broad categories;
1. Nigerian Scholarship Awards (NSA): This merit-based scholarship is open to:
- Full-time students in Nigerian federal or state universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
- Applicants in second year or above with a minimum CGPA of 4.0 (or its equivalent in other grading systems).
- Science and technology disciplines, including Medicine, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, and Education, are especially encouraged.
2. Education Bursary Awards (EBA): Designed for students studying Education, the bursary is open to:
- Undergraduates in public higher institutions (universities and colleges of education) studying Education.
- Applicants with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
- First-year students are not eligible.
To apply, candidates must:
- Provide a valid student ID, admission letter, CGPA statement, and current passport photograph.
- Be registered full-time in recognized public institutions in Nigeria.
- Upload all documents on the online application portal.
Scholarships will be awarded based on:
- Academic performance
- Verified documents
- Available funding and geographical representation
Successful candidates will be contacted directly by the Federal Scholarship Board. The Ministry has advised applicants to beware of fraudsters and warned that the application is completely free of charge.
