In a significant security operation, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and the Anambra State Vigilante Service, has uncovered and destroyed a bomb-making facility in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area. The raid, conducted on May 24, 2025, targeted a secessionist group’s hideout that had remained a stronghold for over two years.
During the operation, several locally fabricated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and safely neutralized. One of the IEDs, buried around the camp, detonated during the raid, causing damage to a section of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the joint security forces are maintaining operational dominance in the area to prevent any resurgence of criminal activities. He emphasized the commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
This operation is part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents in Anambra State.
