Charles Udeogaranya, a former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and a group of governors for endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term without proper consultations.
Udeogaranya described the endorsement as “unilateral” and “undemocratic,” accusing the party leadership of sidelining the grassroots and key stakeholders in making such a critical decision. He argued that the move risks creating divisions within the party and could undermine its unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Udeogaranya, the NWC and some governors acted too hastily, ignoring the need for inclusive dialogue that reflects the views of all party members. He warned that this top-down approach could alienate important party members and affect the APC’s electoral chances.
He further urged the APC leadership to prioritize internal democracy and engage in broader consultations before finalizing any candidate endorsement. Udeogaranya’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions within the APC as the party prepares for the next presidential election cycle.
This criticism adds to the political chatter within the APC, as various factions jockey for influence and power ahead of 2027.
